AFID DESIGN
MICHAEL ARMSTRONG DESIGNER:MAKER
Commissioning Afid Design
Commissioning a piece of unique furniture or product from Afid Design could not be simpler. All of the pieces produced are individually designed and hand made, while the development of the project from initial meeting to final product handover is rewarding for both Michael as the designer maker and you as the client. The commissioning process takes the following course:
1 _ Preliminary discussion
Michael will meet the client and have an informal chat about their requirements, both in terms of design and budget. As a result of this meeting a design brief will be drawn up and a project deadline established. At this stage consideration will be given to which materials and finish would most suit the environment in which the piece is to be situated.
2 _ Design concepts
the next stage involves a presentation of design concepts with discussions on how the project should develop. The concepts will usually take the form of sketches and/or 3D photorealistic models generated by computer. Materials and finishes will be discussed in more depth at this stage in order to ensure that the design is exactly what the client requires. Michael will continue to update the client on the development of the design.
3 _ Completion of the piece
Once the final design has been agreed a 25-50% deposit will be required enabling work to begin on production of the piece. Clients are always welcome to visit Michael’s workshop/studio during the making process and see the design evolving.
4 _ Delivery and payment
Once the piece is completed delivery will be arranged. At this stage the balance of payment will be due.
